“A Rabbit Named ______”
an art installation
September 2021
Centrum Foundation in Port Townsend, Washington

I made these twenty-four silk and tissue paper rabbits using the same sewing pattern I used as a child to make plush toys.
The imagery on each rabbit refers to ways we use or conceptualize these animals, from food, lab-animals and fur to story time characters, pets and mythology. Collectively, the installation is a reflection on how people treat other sentient beings and our ecosystem at large.
Six volunteers took a rabbit into their homes for two weeks. They recorded thoughts about the experience on the typewriter in the center of the circle of rabbits.
